Subject: Join our coalition to oppose the Policing Bill
Hi [name of organisation or person],
I support the new Sheffield-based coalition group “Sheffield Against the Policing Bill”, which is aiming to gather power locally in opposition to the Policing Bill passed through the Commons recently (16th Mar). They are building an alliance of organisations in Sheffield willing to stand up and oppose this draconian bill which would (among other things) increase the ongoing crackdown on the right to protest, grant the police further stop and search powers, criminalise trespass, and target the way of life of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities.
I’m writing to ask you to add your power to this movement by signing on behalf of your organisation. Now is the time to take action, in the proud tradition of Sheffield communities organising to fight against injustices. We must make both the public and our lawmakers aware of the drastic injustices this bill presents before it re-emerges for Parliamentary consent. This attack on democracy and community power can be defeated, but only with your help!
